When you’re under stress, your reptilian brain responds to keep you safe. The emotion that gets stuck in the middle keeps your body stuck in a loop. Someone cuts us off in traffic or you don’t feel heard in a meeting. ![]() We read an email from a colleague and infer tone. We typically attach meaning to the stressor. ![]() You might be surprised to learn that the physiological response time of an emotion is 90 seconds. One of the three components of burnout that is most prevalent in women is emotional exhaustion.Įmotions have a beginning, a middle and an end. In my last post, I shared the definition of burnout.
